This past NBA Draft saw many talents taken to teams that might have been needing that extra spark. On this post, we will see how the top 5 picks in this years NBA Draft will affect their teams.
#1: Zaccharie Risacher, SF, Atlanta Hawks
With the first pick in the NBA Draft, The Atlanta Hawks selected Zaccharie Risacher. This 6'9" 3&D wing fits well into the hawks system, especially with the losses of Saddiq Bey and AJ Griffin going into next season. The Frenchman shot 35.2% from beyond the arc while having a lengthy build, getting rebounds with some of the best of them. His potential sees him emerging as a 3 and D wing among the likes of Michael Porter Jr. and Harrison Barnes.
#2: Alex Sarr, C, Washington Wizards
Many predicted that Sarr would be drafted by the Atlanta Hawks, but after declining a workout and an interview, he would precede to get drafted by the Washington Wizards. This 7'1" big man will more than likely become a defensive staple in DC for the future. Averaging 1.1 blocks a game for the National Basketball League, he has a great advantage over many players with a 7'4" wingspan. His playstyle is a big man that almost plays like a forward, gliding and spinning towards the rim with ease. Guards should be scared to go towards the rim with this man, being compared to the likes of Jaren Jackson Jr. 1x NBA Defensive Player of the Year and all-defensive team Evan Mobley emerging as one of the leagues best interior defenders.
#3: Reed Sheppard, SG, Houston Rockets
Coming fresh out of Kentucky, Reed Sheppard supplies the Rockets with some much needed shooting and overall scoring. Shooting 52% from deep at college, Sheppard really looks like he could be a shepherd for this team offensively in the future. Get it! Many compare him to the likes of Donte DiVincenzo and Kevin Huerter.
#4: Stephon Castle, PG, San Antonio Spurs
Standing at 6'6", Castle has an advantage over many point guards with his ability to lockdown even the best of them. Stephon Castle has shown that he knows how to win, make incredible plays and defend. He fits well into what the Spurs seem to be building in a defensive core between runner-up in NBA Defensive Player of the Year Victor Wembanyama, 6'8" forward Jeremy Sochan, 3&D guard Devin Vassell and now Stephon Castle. Many compare him to Jrue Holiday and Anthony Black.
#5: Ron Holland II, SF, Detroit Pistons
Ron Holland was plays a two-way game, mostly driving towards the rim on the offensive end and making great stops on defense. Coming out of NBA G-League Ignite, Holland has gotten experience playing against professional players and learning from experienced, respected coaches. He benefits Detroit by bringing great athleticism, many defensive stops and a load of highlights to the table. Many compare him to Cam Whitmore and RJ Barrett.
